BREAKING: Bobi Wine allegedly shot in Bulindo, police speaks out.

Yesterday evening was darkened by the news about the alleged shooting of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, a musician turned politician and former presidential candidate.

Bobi wine was rushed to hospital after being shot in Bulindo.

In 2017, musician Bobi Wine joined active politics when he contested on the Kyadondo East parliamentary seat, a position he won with higher percentage than any of his opponents.

Since then, the National Unity Platform President has received harassment from security operatives, life attempts and continuous arrests.

Yesterday, the President visited Bulindo, Kira municipality in Wakiso district,where he attended a thanksgiving ceremony of Lawyer George Musisi. The function had a remarkable excitement with the president delivering his speech to the ever hopeful crowd that attended.

On his way back, a crowd gathered along the way to have an eye on the aspiring president, a situation that spiraled the police to intervene. 

Eye witnesses claim that one of the supporters of Bobi Wine clashed with the police, a chaotic moment which resulted into a scuffle.

In an attempt to calm down the situation, the NUP President exited his vehicle to mediate, only to be shot on the leg by a yet to be identified officer.

In a dramatic footage circulating on social media, the NUP President is seen being attended to by his bodyguards rushing him into a Toyota harrier. The person on the camera then points on one of the two officers on the police pick-up truck number Up 5752, alleging him to have shot the opposition leader.

"Security operatives have made an attempt on our President's life. They have shot on his leg. We are in Bulindo." a circulating video was captioned.

He was then rushed to a nearby Najeem medical center for first aid before being transferred to Nsambya Hospital for further treatment.

Police speaks out.

In a statement by the police, the newly appointed spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke claims that the president was not shot but sustainable an injury when he stumbled while getting into his vehicle.

The police mouthpiece however promised to conduct an investigation to clarify the alleged shooting and any related incidents.

The shooting has however sparked mixed reactions, with motor mouthed Frank Gashumba referring this to a trending China town bullet.
